As a self proclaimed over achiever, I took a sucker punch last week when someone told me that the best is the enemy of the good. What?? Always do your best. Give 110% every time, all the time. You were created for excellence. These are the thoughts that constantly permeate my mind...settle for GOOD? Hardly.
The premise for this conversation was about our website. I have been working on this as a part time project for months, but have continued to kick our start date down the road because it wasn't ready. At least not to my standards. When the whole best/good conversation came up, I quickly agreed with the statement, then disagreed, and then just stopped talking and thought about the words. How many times do we not try something because we are afraid to fail? How many dinners to we cancel because the house isn't completely clean? How many pictures do we delete because of that smudge on the face or messy hair? Are we missing out on some of the best things in life because our desire for perfection will not allow us to be human?
I still believe in excellence. I do think that anything worth doing is worth doing right. I will still give 110% as often as I can. But I am going allow myself the flexibility to not be perfect. We are launching our website with a fraction of our products with the hope that you will continue to check us out and shop. I want you to be inspired. I want your home to be the destination that your family loves, where visitors feel welcome, and where you have the freedom to be yourself. Thanks for visiting our shop!
